Senior Technician

Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced and customer-focused Senior Automotive Technician to diagnose, service and repair vehicles while maintaining high standards of safety, workmanship and efficiency.
The successful candidate will also supervise junior technicians, conduct quality checks, advise customers on repairs and spare parts, and support the smooth running of the workshop.
Key Responsibilities
Vehicle Diagnostics, Servicing and Repairs
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical vehicle faults accurately.
- Carry out routine servicing, preventive maintenance and complex repairs.
- Conduct vehicle inspections and recommend necessary repairs or maintenance.
- Perform post-repair road tests and confirm that reported faults have been resolved.
- Ensure all work meets company, manufacturer and industry standards.
Quality Control and Workshop Leadership
- Inspect completed work before vehicles are released to customers.
- Supervise, guide and mentor junior technicians and workshop staff.
- Assign work according to each technician’s skills and workload.
- Monitor repair times and ensure jobs are completed efficiently without compromising quality.
- Promote safe working practices and compliance with workshop procedures.
Customer Service and Parts Sales
- Discuss vehicle concerns with customers and explain findings and repairs clearly.
- Recommend suitable spare parts, maintenance services and repair solutions.
- Identify and explain additional repairs or services required by the vehicle.
- Support the sale of spare parts and workshop services while ensuring recommendations are based on genuine customer needs.
- Follow up with customers after repairs to confirm satisfaction and encourage repeat business.
Workshop Administration and Maintenance
- Record all inspections, repairs, labour and parts used accurately.
- Ensure job cards and other workshop records are properly completed.
- Maintain tools, diagnostic equipment and workshop machinery in good working condition.
- Report equipment faults, safety concerns and operational issues promptly.
- Keep the workshop clean, organized and safe.
Qualifications and Experience
- Certificate or Diploma in Automotive Engineering, Motor Vehicle Mechanics or a related field.
- At least 5 years’s experience in vehicle diagnostics, servicing and repairs.
- Strong mechanical and basic auto-electrical diagnostic skills.
- Experience handling complex vehicle repairs.
- Ability to supervise and mentor junior technicians.
- Good customer-service, communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to use diagnostic equipment and prepare accurate repair records.
- A valid driving licence.
- Experience working on Isuzu or commercial vehicles will be an added advantage.
